The Revival is the world’s most popular historic motor race meeting. Every year, driving enthusiasts, motoring stars and vehicle manufacturers from all over the world revel in the glamour and allure of motor racing in a golden age, as they celebrate the finest cars ever to have graced tarmac.
At a sell-out 2014 Goodwood Revival, we had more than 30 historic Jaguar cars competing wheel-to-wheel at the unspoiled Goodwood Motor Circuit. And away from the excitement of the on-track racing, iconic Jaguar models were to be seen throughout the Goodwood site, from the Lightweight E-type making its European debut, to the new F-TYPE Project 7.
But the real star of this year’s show, was the D-Type. Celebrating its 60th anniversary in style, the Goodwood circuit saw a record number of D-types and the prestigious Lavant Cup race was dedicated to the legendary car.
Don’t let Revival pass you by. 2015 dates are yet to be confirmed, but you can keep up to date with all the latest on the Goodwood website.
Revival is renowned for its vintage style and authentic motoring attire. Take a look through some of the best by visiting the Goodwood website.
2014’s celebration of the Le Mans winning D-Type racing cars, included more than 20 examples of this legendary competition car taking part in the Lavant Cup, which was devoted to the D-type. Ex-Jaguar Le Mans winner Andy Wallace competed in a 1955 'long-nose' D-type alongside some other familiar faces, including fellow ex-Le Mans winner Derek Bell. D-type’s spiritual successor, the new F-TYPE Project 7 was also in proud attendance, as was born again classic, the new Lightweight E-type.
Earlier this year, Jaguar announced plans to build six perfect reproductions of the original, race-bred Lightweight E-type that was created in 1963 as part of the 'Special GT E-type project'. Just 12 of an intended 18 lightweights were built. Until now.
Hand-built at Brown’s Lane, the Lightweight E-type is the first recreation from the new Jaguar Heritage Workshop. Staffed by expert engineers and historic car specialists, this new facility offers warrantied servicing and restoration of classic Jaguar models.
